Laparoscopic Ventral Hernia repair provides an excellent view of the abdomen and the hernia. Laparoscopy allows less post operative pain. Also, the rate of hernia recurrence is less.

Laparoscopic Inguinal Hernias are done commonly.

Recurrence rates are about the same as open surgery, but post operative pain is less and return to work is faster.

There is a higher chance of nerve entrapment and chronic pain.

A general anesthetic is needed.
